Aaqib Javed claimed that he analyzed India's success recently and tried to execute some of its plans in Pakistan Cricket. The Head of the National Cricket Academy agreed that Pakistan cricket fell way behind in doing the basics right.
"I have looked at India’s success and have tried to execute plans for the betterment of Pakistan cricket. Any cricket nation’s success is based on the quality of its talent. I think we fell away (behind) in doing the basic things correctly in our cricket system," Javed said in a PCB's podcast.

Pakistan hasn't had a lot of success at the highest level since 2023. After making it to the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2021 and the final of the T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan faced a Group Stage exit in the ODI World Cup 2023. They could not even make it to the Super 8 in the T20 World Cup 2024 and was knocked out at home in the Champions Trophy 2025.
"Unless you don’t have the quality in talent nothing changes," - Aaqib Javed
Aaqib added that changing captains, coaches, or the selectors diesn't change a lot of things unless a change in the quality of talent. He felt that the quality of talent can be increased only after improving the bench strength and domestic competition with the help of better system and infrastructure.

"No matter who you appoint as captain, coach or selector, unless you don’t have the quality in talent nothing changes. And quality of talent can be assured by increasing the bench strength and competition, and this is only possible with proper infrastructure and system," he added.
