Indian(IND) batting star Virat Kohli is set to take part in his fourth ICC Champions Trophy tournament. Kohli played his first tournament in 2009 where India crashed out in the first round after losses to Pakistan and Australia. Kohli’s first massive breakout moment in Champions Trophy came during the 2009 event against West Indies. The former India skipper during the huge game against Pakistan also went past 14,000 runs in ODI Cricket. Feat was achieved when Kohli cover drover Haris Rauf for a four through the covers.
Chasing 130 to win, India were 12/2 at one stage but the young batter scored 79 not out off 104 balls with nine fours and two sixes. The next tournament was held in 2013 where MS Dhoni led the side to the title win by beating England in the finals.
In 2017, Kohli led the side for the first time in an ICC event which saw India reach the finals. Heading into the game as the defending champions, Team India lost the finals to arch-rivals Pakistan by a massive margin of 180 runs.

Virat Kohli played a key role in India’s 2013 title triumph under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. The right-handed batter scored an unbeaten 58 off 64 balls in the semi-finals against Sri Lanka in Cardiff in a low-scoring game. Kohli was the best batter for India in the finals of the 2013 tournament where he top-scored with 43 off 34 balls. His innings included four boundaries and a six before falling to James Anderson. Team India scored 129 from their 20 overs and restricted the hosts to 124 to win the title.

In 2017, Kohli was joint fourth highest run scorer with 258 runs from five matches. Joe Root had also scored 258 runs from four games for the hosts. India’s skipper began the tournament with 81 not out against Pakistan. This was followed by a duck against Sri Lanka before Kohli scored 76 not out against South Africa.
Virat Kohli’s best score in Champions Trophy of 96 not out came against Bangladesh in the semi-finals. In the finals against Pakistan, Kohli managed to score just five runs from nine balls as India lost by a huge margin.

India’s leading batter has been struggling for form in recent times but his record in ICC tournaments is on different level. Kohli has an average of 88 in Champions Trophy with over 500 runs.
