Champions Trophy 2025: Top 5 pacers ruled out of the tournament

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is over the horizon. After eight years, the ICC Champions Trophy is returning. The tournament will be played in Pakistan and UAE. India will be playing all games in the UAE, while others will play in Pakistan and will face India in the UAE. The top eight teams are divided into two groups. 

But before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 got started, all eight had started to face injury problems. Ahead of the mega event, each team's top players have injuries, which is a worrying sign for them. Many players have already been ruled out, even though the tournament has not started.

Top 5 pacers ruled out of the tournament

5. Anrich Nortje 

South Africa suffers a big blow as star pacer Anrich Nortje won’t be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Anrich Nortje hasn’t fully recovered yet from his back injury, which led him to miss out on the ICC event. His last ODI game was against Australia on 9^th September. Corbin Bosch was announced as his replacement in the Champions Trophy squad.

4. Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood is another pacer who has been ruled out due to injury. Josh Hazlewood, who suffered a hip injury during the third test match between India and Australia, has been ruled out. For Australia, he has picked over 138 wickets from 91 ODI games. Australian will miss his bowling as he was a key player of the bowling unit.

3. Pat Cummins

The ODI captain for Australia has been ruled out for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pat Cummins got injured during the five-match test series against India. Due to that, he also missed the Australia tour of Sri Lanka. Pat Cummins represented Australia in 90 ODI games and took 143 wickets. He led Australia to win the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

2. Jasprit Bumrah

India has suffered a big blow as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. On 11^th Feb BCCI made an official announcement that Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament due to lower back. This injury kept him out of the T20I series and ODI series against England. Jasprit Bumrah's last ODI game for India came in the 2023 ICC World Cup final against Australia. Playing in 89 games, star pacer for India has picked up 149 wickets.

1. Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc is the latest addition to this list. Due to personal reasons, Mitchell Starc has pulled himself out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In 127 ODI games, he has picked 244 wickets for Australia. Australia has suffered a big setback as all three key pacers are ruled out for the event.
