Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of 2025 Champions Trophy due to back injury: Reports

It has come as a shocker to the Indian Cricket team as the star bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the 2025 Champions Trophy. As per reports, the bowler is yet to recover from his back injury that was caused to him during the Sydney Test in January. Owing to this, he was also not able to participate in the white-ball series against England. 

As per the recent health reports that Bumrah had gone through in Bangalore, there was nothing unexpected or surprising that was revealed. Yet, it is confirmed that he is not entirely ready to return to bowling anytime soon. The progress of his injury shall be under surveillance by the medical team of BCCI in the Center of Excellence, Bangalore. Most likely, the star bowler shall resume running in a week or so and then gradually try his hand in bowling.

Varun Chakravarthy in Champion's Trophy squad 2025

It also came as a surprise as the Indian selectors have named Varun Chakravarthy in the final squad of the Champions Trophy. He came in as replacement to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chakravarthy was a last minute addition to the Indian squad against England. He made his debut on the second day of the ODI series in Cuttack. Jaiswal has been moved to the list of reserved players where he is joining Shivam Dube and Mohammed Siraj. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has also been replaced by Harshit Rana, who debuted in the first ODI against England.
