Pakistan were outclassed by Bangladesh for the first time in Test cricket. The Bangla Tigers whitewashed the two-match series and inflicted more misery on the Men in Green who have been in poor form across formats in recent times. Several factors went wrong in Pakistan's recent humiliation, one of which was the flop show by the top players.

While captain Shan Masood managed to score just one half-century in four innings, former all-format skipper Babar Azam failed to shine in both matches. The star batter scored just 62 runs and even bagged a duck in the first innings of the series opener.

With the loss, Pakistan slipped to second place in the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) points table. On the other hand, out-of-form Babar dropped out of the top 10 of the ICC ranking for Test batsmen after nearly five years.

Babar's struggle to find runs had started for some time. He was the centre of criticism on social media from fans and former cricketers after Pakistan's home debacle against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, a video of two YouTubers roasting the Pakistan star has gone viral on social media.

Although Pakistan cricketers are not allowed to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the YouTubers brutally trolled Babar saying that he wouldn’t even get Rs 130 as a bid if he came in the auction.

We were just not prepared for red ball cricket: PAK skipper Shan Masood

In the post-match press conference, captain Shan Masood apologized to the nation for the humiliating defeat against Bangladesh. He took responsibility for the loss and said the team was not prepared enough for red-ball cricket.

“I take responsibility for the defeats and I apologise to the nation. But I think we need to focus on how we can improve and take our Test side forward,” Masood said.

“There is no excuse for losing this series and we accept that. But it is also a fact that the players also wanted to do well. But we were just not prepared for red ball cricket. We have to tolerate some failures if we are to move forward,” he added.
