Match Preview
Test cricket’s biggest clash of 2024 is upon us as Australia and India battle it out in the five-match series starting on Friday. For the home team, their biggest motivation is to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy, a feat which they haven’t been able to accomplish for ten years. For India, the task is simple, win the series to keep their hopes of making it to the World Test Championships finals.
Australia (AUS) has played just five Test matches this year with their game coming against New Zealand in March. With David Warner gone, the team is set to hand out the debut cap to Nathan McSweeney who will open the batting. Pat Cummins and his side will be itching to get back on the field against their most heated rival in the last 20 years.
India (IND) is coming into the first Test match on the back of their worst form in Test cricket. Rohit Sharma’s men lost the Test series at home to New Zealand with a 3-0 margin. Team India will be led by Jasprit Bumrah for the first match as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are not available for the game.

Dream11 Top Picks for Australia vs India
Marnus Labuschagne – Australia’s number 3 batter possesses a good record at this venue. So far Labuschagne has played 3 Test matches in Perth and scored 519 runs with an average of 103 and a best of 204. The 30-year-old has hit 3 centuries at this venue and one half-century in Perth.
Yashasvi Jaiswal – India’s star batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in prime form in the Test format this year. The left-handed batter has played 11 games for India and scored 1119 runs with an average of 55.95 with a healthy strike-rate of 76. Jaiswal has also hit 2 double tons with both of them coming against England earlier this year.
Dream 11 Budget Picks for Australia vs India
Travis Head – Australian star batter Travis Head has scored 198 runs this year with a century from the five Tests he has played. The left-handed batter though has a good record against India scoring 715 runs from 10 Test matches with an average of 42. Travis Head has also scored 291 runs in Perth with an average of 41 with 3 fifties and a best of 99.
Jasprit Bumrah – India’s stand-in skipper will have the pressure of expectations when he leads his team in Perth. The 30-year-old began the year well but his performances have tailed off during the course of the year. Bumrah has picked 41 wickets this year with 2 fifers and scored 77 runs with the bat. In 7 matches that Bumrah has played against Australia, he has picked 32 wickets with just one fifer.
Dream11 Players to avoid for Australia vs India
Steve Smith – Australia’s main batting hope Steve Smith has endured a lean patch so far this year. The 35-year-old has scored a total of 213 runs with just one Test fifty so far. The plan to open the batting backfired and Smith’s recent run of form with the bat has also been patchy.
KL Rahul – Indian batting star KL Rahul’s form has been inconsistent in the last few months. This year the 32-year-old has scored 234 runs but the constant chopping and changing of his spot in the side has taken a toll on his batting. During the opening Test match, Rahul will open the batting and will want to regain his form and play a key role for the side.
