Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant has finally broken his silence on his exit from Delhi Capitals. The 27-year-old is set to feature in the IPL Auctions 2025 which is set to take on the 24th and 25th of November in Jeddah. Former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar had earlier stated that Pant’s exit from Delhi could be due to financial reasons.
Gavaskar, while speaking to Star Sports, had said, “See, the auction dynamics are completely different. So we don't know how things could go. But what I feel is Delhi (Capitals) would certainly want Rishabh Pant back in their squad. Sometimes, you know, when the player is to be retained, there is a talk between the franchise and the player about the fees that are expected."

Sunil Gavaskar dwells deep into Pant’s exit from Delhi Capitals
During his chat with Star Sports, former India star Sunil Gavaskar said, “As you can see, some of the players who have been retained by their franchise, they have been retained for more than, say, what the number one retention fee deduction would be."
The 75-year-old said, “So clearly, I think, maybe there was some disagreement over there but Delhi definitely want Rishabh Pant back because they want a captain as well. If Rishabh Pant is not in their squad, then they'll have to buy a new captain. So my feeling is that Delhi will definitely go for Rishabh Pant."
Rishabh Pant sent fans into overdrive when he took to his social media handle X and wrote, “If go to the auction. will I be sold or not and for how much”. Delhi Capitals then confirmed Pant’s release on 31st October. Pant was Delhi's capital for IPL 2024 and his team missed the playoffs despite their strong comeback.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly has backed Pant and Shubman to reach greater heights. The former Indian skipper while speaking to Times of India said “I don’t want to get into the talks of transition since I am not privy to what is happening in the system. If you talk about the next generation, then there is already Rishabh Pant who has been a proven performer in overseas conditions for some years now. I believe a lot will revolve around him. I have a feeling Shubman Gill and Pant can go to the next level as senior batters at the end of the series”
