Arshdeep Singh suffered an unfortunate cut on his bowling hand while fielding in the practice session ahead of the fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester. The update was given by the Indian Assistant Coach, Ryan Ten Doeschate, who confirmed that the Indian pacer was treated by the doctors and his condition was studied.

Ten Doeschate claimed that the left-arm pacer tried to stop the ball when he suffered the cut. He claimed to examine the extent of the cut and added that stitches could be applied to his hands, which could potentially hamper India's bowling combination for the remainder of the series.

"He took a ball while he was bowling there, the side of the ball; he tried to stop the ball. It's just a cut, so we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team is taking him to see a doctor, and if he needs stitches, that is going to be important to our planning for the next few days," said Ryan Ten Doeschate.

Will Karun Nair get dropped from the Manchester Test?

Arshdeep's injury could hamper India's combination, as he was reported to make his Test debut in one of the last two Tests against England in Manchester or The Oval. The poor form of Prasidh Krishna did not help India's cause in the first two Tests, which meant Akash Deep was played ahead of him at Lord's.

As per the reports, India is likely to make a solitary change in the Manchester Test. Karun Nair, who has failed to perform in the chances given for him in the Edgbaston and the Lord's Tests, could be replaced either by Sai Sudharsan or Dhruv Jurel in the XI.
