Rohit Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions has been assessed by Aakash Chopra. The former Indian opener was recently speaking on his YouTube channel. According to Aakash Chopra, Rohit Sharma’s 14-year journey with the five-time IPL champions could be ending soon.

Aakash Chopra as quoted by Sportskeeda while speaking on his YouTube channel said “Will he stay or will he go? It's a big question. Personally, I feel he will not stay. Whoever is retained will be with thinking that he will remain with you for three years, unless your name is MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings' story is very different but Rohit Sharma at MI, I feel he might himself leave or MI might leave him”

There are reports that many teams will be bidding big for Rohit Sharma if he comes into the auction pool. This will be the first time the former MI skipper will be in the auctions since 2011 if he is let go by the Ambani-owned side.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra during his YouTube live also said “Anything can happen but I don't think Rohit is going to be retained here. I don't have any information but I feel Rohit will probably be released. He might go to someone in the trade window, that's a possibility that he doesn't go to the auction, but if that doesn't happen, he might be seen in the auction. I feel his journey with the Mumbai Indians is over,"

Hardik Pandya is set to be retained as the captain of the team for the IPL 2025 season. Mumbai Indians had elected Hardik Pandya as the captain of the team with Rohit Sharma being asked to step down. The veteran Indian star then won India the T20 World Cup title a few months later.

Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra feels that Suryakumar Yadav will continue to wear the Blue and Gold jersey. Yadav is currently the skipper of the Indian T20I side and is a prized asset for the Mumbai-based side.

“I don't think Suryakumar Yadav will be traded. I haven't heard anything like that. The Mumbai Indians won't leave Suryakumar Yadav and I feel Surya also won't leave either” said Chopra on his YouTube Channel.
