Amit Mishra names surprising player as India’s most dangerous batter against spinners

Veteran India star leg-spinner Amit Mishra was a guest on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast. There were a lot of topics that were discussed in a nearly two-hour-long podcast where a variety of topics were discussed. 

Towards the end of the conversation, Amit Mishra was asked (around the 1 hour 36 mark) to name the most dangerous batter in the net. Amit Mishra left out some of the heavyweights like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.

The veteran Indian bowler said “Do you know who I was afraid to? It was VVS Laxman. He was a underrated player but there wasn’t a more dangerous player of spin I haven’t seen. He had three shots, he could hit through leg side, and also through mid-on and mid-off. You will think he has a lot of time but the amount of time he had against the spinners made him a dangerous player”

Amit Mishra reveals interesting conversation with Virender Sehwag 

Veteran Indian star Amit Mishra when asked how he bowled to batters in the nets was pretty open about his answer. “everyone used to hit spinners for sixes in the nets. But none of them was able to take me on in a real match situation”

The topic moved to former India star Virender Sehwag and how Ravichandran Ashwin had said that Sehwag never gave any respect to off-spinners. Shubhankar Mishra the host of the podcast also told Amit Mishra the experiences shared by Ashwin. 

Responding to this Amit Mishra said “Main isliye unse (Sehwag) se do teen chakke kha leta tha flight karke. Fir main unko itni gandi ball dalta tha, jo mujhe pata tha yeh marenge hi. Lekin unka kaisa unke pass option who kabhi maar sakte the aur out bhi ho sakte the isi pe hum khel the unke saath “

Amit Mishra went onto say “Unko pareshan kardo. Agar who pareshan hote the toh out ho jate the. Lekin unke saath ek cheez thi agar woh apni peak pe hai aur agar Viru bhai gaana gaa rahe hai to unse dangerous player nahi hai”

The veteran star recounted an incident where he said “main domestic main khel raha tha unke against. Unhone ek mere samne se mara, chauka mara fir chakka mara, fir keh rahe hai ‘Mishraji yeh Arjun ka bann hai isey rok nahi paoge’. Maine kaha ‘Arjun ke bann bhi kisi ne roke honge Viru bhai’. Fir unhone do teen chakke maare aur mujhse hi out ho gaye’
