The Indian Cricket team hasn’t toured Pakistan for 16 years and their last game was in Karachi during the 2008 Asia Cup. The match was played on the 2nd of July 2008 at the National Stadium which Pakistan won by 8 wickets with 27 balls left to play. 

The match was a high-scoring encounter with India scoring 308/7 from their 50 overs. Pakistan chased down the total with ease as Younis Khan scored an unbeaten ton with opener Nasir Jamshed and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq scoring half-centuries. 

The 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy is set to be held in Pakistan. As per reports, the BCCI doesn’t want to tour Pakistan with the Indian government and is yet to have its say and give its go-ahead. The reports also state that the BCCI has asked ICC to play the tournament in a Hybrid model with UAE and Sri Lanka as its preferred options. 

India’s last cricket match in Pakistan and where are the players now

It was MS Dhoni who won the toss and chose to bat first, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir added 88 for the 1st wicket inside 11 overs. Abdur Rauf got two wickets removing Sehwag for 49 and Suresh Raina for 1. 

MS Dhoni top scored with 76 runs from 96 balls while Rohit Sharma batting at number 6 scored 58 runs from 71 balls. Irfan Pathan then scored 38 off 25 balls to help India reach 308 runs. 

Chasing 309 runs to win, Salman Butt and Nasir Jamshed added 61 runs from 8 overs. The Indian bowlers then saw Younis Khan come to bat at 3 and scored 123 not out from 117 balls to help his side win the contest. 

Where are the Indian players now?

Gautam Gambhir – has taken over as the Indian team coach and has signed a three and half year deal. 

Virender Sehwag – Retired from cricket in 2015 and is now known to run his own school and is also a media pundit. 

Suresh Raina – Raina has called it quits on the same day as MS Dhoni announced his retirement from cricket and plays in various veteran leagues around the world. 

Yuvraj Singh – The former Indian star called time on his career in 2019 and is still turning up in various T20 leagues. 

MS Dhoni – India’s greatest captain won the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions trophy before retiring on 15th August 2020 and is still playing IPL for Chennai Super Kings. 

Rohit Sharma – Currently, Rohit Sharma is the skipper of the Indian side in the ODI format. Recently, he led India to their first ICC title in over 11 years and won the 2024 T20 World Cup. 

Yusuf Pathan – Member of the 2011 ODI World Cup side and then fizzled away before calling time on his career. Still plays in the T20 leagues across the world. 

Irfan Pathan – The former Indian star didn’t enjoy a great end to his career and can be seen as a commentator after calling time on his career. 

Praveen Kumar – Once a promising bowler for India, Praveen Kumar saw his career end in 2012 and eventually retired from the game. 

Piyush Chawla – Still plays domestic cricket and was last seen playing for the Mumbai Indians team during IPL 2024. 

Ishant Sharma – The tall pacer is still playing cricket for Delhi in domestic cricket and also for Delhi Capitals in IPL.
