The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026.

This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.

The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course after a thoughtful communication between BCCI and the host board.

Asia Cup on the line

With the postponement of the upcoming series confirmed, both the teams are now expected to next cross swords during the impending Asia Cup 2025, which is set to be hosted in the UAE. The Emirates country has been chosen to host the event since it is going to be a neutral venue and both India and Pakistan will be able to travel and play against each other.

Earlier, there were reports that the BCCI is not willing to play any further matches against the neighbouring arch-rivals, ever since the heinous Pahalgam attacks, few months back. However, the board secretary Devajit Saikia came forward and quashed the reports, saying they are only rumours and no such development has been made.

"It has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI's decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC events. Such news is devoid of any truth as till now, the BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the ensuing ACC events, leave alone writing anything to the ACC," Saikia had said earlier.

Speaking more about the continental tournament, this will be the first major event for the Men in Blue in the T20 format, ever since they won the T20 World Cup in 2024 under the astute leadership of Rohit Sharma. However, now that the 38-year-old has retired from the shortest format of the game, Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian troops with a confidence to lead them to glory.
