Delhi Police has once again come up with an intriguing post to celebrate Team India's remarkable victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. They put up a witty post on X (formerly Twitter) after India successfully avenged their previous heartbreak against Australia in the Super 8 clash on Monday, June 24.

In a thrilling high-scoring encounter at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, the Men in Blue beat their bitter rivals by 24 runs to seal a berth in the semi-finals. Rohit Sharma led the way with 92 off just 41 balls and later Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh complimented the captain's effort with a brilliant bowling effort.

Australia had beaten India in the last two ICC finals - the World Test Championship (WTC) and the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, this time, Rohit and his team tried their best to knock the Kangaroos out of the tournament without seeing the semis. Delhi Police described the loss of the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad on November 19 as the motive for India’s revenge.

"This Just In: In a 'hits-and-runs' incident in Caribbean, 11 Indian men have 'stolen' over a billion hearts. Initial investigation points out the revenge of 19/11 as the motive," Delhi police tweeted.

We know the opposition and the threat they bring: Rohit Sharma after beating Australia

Skipper Rohit Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for his scintillating knock, which included eight sixes and seven fours. There were significant contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya as India posted 205-5 in 20 overs.

Chasing a competitive target, Australia got off to a worst start as they lost David Warner in the very first over. However, Travis Head once again came to hunt the Indians with his blazing knock. Head and captain Mitchell Marsh put on an 8-plus partnership for the second wicket. However, India managed to pull things back at the right time and eventually restricted them to 181-7.

Speaking after the match, Rohit said: "We know the opposition and the threat they bring. As a team, we did well, kept doing the things we needed to do. Gives us good confidence as a team. 200 is a good score but when you are playing here with wind being a big factor, anything can happen. But I think we used to conditions really well, and it was about individuals doing their job. It was about getting wickets at the right time."
