Harmanpreet Kaur regarded the Women's Premier League as a special tournament ahead of the 2026 season with Mumbai Indians. The MI Women's skipper noted that it has helped break a lot of barriers in the Women's Cricket. The veteran claimed that young players and emerging cricketers from the domestic circuit wish to be a part of the WPL.
Ahead of the WPL 2026, Kaur spoke about the league and its evolution. Before WPL, there were only three teams in the Women's T20 competition with no concept of regional based teams. Things changed in 2023 when the WPL was introduced for the first time.

Kaur is the skipper of the MI Women, which is the most successful team in the league's history till 2025. Under Harmanpreet, MI Women won the inaugural title in 2023 and claimed it again in the 2025 season. Kaur was glad to get an opportunity to share the dressing room with some of the best players in the world in the league.

The star player noted that WPL acts as a medium where a lot of cricketers gain experience of playing against the best talents in the world cricket. She hence believed that WPL as a league helps break a lot of barriers in Women's Cricket.

"WPL has something very special - especially for domestic cricketers - young cricketers - they really want to come here, for that, they work very hard. This stage is very special because you share dressing room with International and overseas cricketers - here you gain a lot of experience, and that helps break a lot of barriers," Harmanpreet said about WPL.
