Basketball: The Indian National Basketball League (INBL) is set to kickstart by the end of June 2024. Amritpal Singh is hopeful of the league establishing itself to help the promotion of the sport in India.

Despite the legal battles with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), the Indian National Basketball League (INBL) is set to kickstart on the 25th of June 2024. For the first time in history, two cities will be hosting the tournament which consists of 6 teams. The league is likely to be played for 45 days. There was a huge attendance at the launch of the league which impressed many.

Amritpal Singh was happy with the move. The former India player said that witnessing such crowds isn't normal for Basketball in the country and felt happy about it. "We haven't witnessed such a crowd in India often. So, I am very happy to see so many enthusiastic fans here to support us," said Amritpal upon witnessing the good turnout for the launch of the league.

The star player played for Sydney Kings in the Australian National Basketball League and made the nation proud. He felt that a league like INBL would help the youngsters rub shoulders against some of the best players in the world. He felt that the promotion of the league among the common people by broadcasting them on TV would lead to the popularity of the sport.

He further felt that a league like the INBL could help the growth of the sport in the country. Amritpal felt that more talents would emerge from the league which could lead to the Indian team becoming better in the coming years. "Such leagues and competitions are important for the growth of the sport in the country," said the star player after the event. 

"With more professional leagues, the Indian team will improve as the supply chain of young players will also start coming in," added Singh. Before the start of the league, there will be an auction where the players will be shuffled to different teams based on their picks. The franchises for the league and the names of the teams are set to be decided in the next few days.
