Nikola Jokic and Team Serbia did not win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but they remain heroes in the eyes of the Serbian people. When Jokic and his colleagues came home after winning bronze medals, they were greeted like heroes. The Serbs had Team USA on the ropes in their semifinal battle and should have pulled off the shock by being up double digits late, but they lost 95-91 before defeating Germany in the bronze medal match.
Serbian station PTC1 showed footage of Nikola Jokic's homecoming to Serbia, which was an incredible event. Thousands of individuals joined the gathering, which appeared to be an unending sea of people. Many people were holding Serbian flags, lighting flares and shouting MVP chats towards Nikola Jokic.

While winning gold at the Olympics may be routine for Team USA, simply finishing in the top three is far more significant for other countries such as Serbia. In men's basketball, the country has won only three medals: silver in 1996, silver in 2016, and bronze in 2024. However, when Serbia met the United States in 2016, they were defeated by 30 points. This time, Serbia led America by 17 points, with a genuine opportunity to win at the end.
USA struggled against Sebria
Serbia celebrated their victory aboard the team bus, with Jokic and his teammates having fun. During the Paris Olympics 2024, Serbia was the toughest team as they gave a tough fight to the United States in semifinals. During their match, against the USA throughout the first half USA struggled against Sebria but during the fourth quarter of the match USA made a comeback and advanced to the finals in which they won against France to win gold medal.
