Nikola Jokic is the happiest player after helping Serbia to win a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics, even though he has won three NBA MVP awards and an NBA title. On Saturday, Jokic and the Serbian squad were jubilantly chanting and dancing on the team bus after defeating Germany 93-83. Serbia returned to competition this year after placing second in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, an Olympic qualification that was denied to them in 2020.

Following the 2019 FIBA World Cup, Nikola Jokic took a break from playing for Serbia. Having won the bronze medal game, he had a tremendous tournament for his nation, topping all players in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Watch here the video:

Jokic made Olympic history by being the fourth player to record a triple-double. In 38 minutes versus Germany, he tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Two other times throughout the tournament, the 29-year-old came up just short of a triple-double with one assist.

During the 2024 Olympics, Jokic averaged 18.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game while starting six games. Jokic led the way with a triple-double, the fifth achieved in Olympic history. Serbia dominated the game from start to finish, winning 93-83. Jokic finished the game by playing 38 of 40 minutes and recording 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed 16 points as well.

Serbia won thier third medal since 1992

In the current FIBA global rankings, Serbia is ranked fourth. Though it might be claimed that this team has been the second best in the Olympics after the US team, those two teams faced off in the semifinals due to the arrangement of the brackets.

In the semifinals, Team USA had to overcome a 17-point deficit against Serbia. It would have been the United States' first Olympic knockout phase loss since 2004 and only its second Olympic play loss since 2008. Silver was won by Serbia in 2016, and the country has medalled in two of the past three Olympics. Since 1992, this is the third medal that Serbia has won.
