During the bronze medal match between Serbia and Germany in the Paris Olympics 2024, Serbia won the game and took home the bronze medal as they defeated Germany by the score of 93-83 at Brecy Arena. The three-time NBA MVP award winner Nikola Jokic was in charge as he scored his fifth triple-double in the Olympics basketball and was able to lead his team to win.

With 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in the game, Jokic helped Serbia win its first medal in the sport since taking home the silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. After being dangerously close to defeating the U.S. team, the four-time reigning gold medalists, in the quarterfinals, the Serbians recovered to defeat the world champions. After digesting the sadness of the U.S. loss, Bogdanovic, who finished with 16 points, thanked Serbia's 74-year-old coach Svetislav Pesic for helping the squad turn the match around.

As the match ended, Serbia won the bronze medal before joining the celebration with his teammate Nikola Jokic showing why he is the humblest player in basketball. While the other team was celebrating, he was the first player to approach Germany’s players and coaching staff to shake hands.

Nikola Jokic was emotional throughout the game

The result of the game on Saturday was different from the one that was seen in the FIBA World Cup final from the previous year. In this one, Serbia maintained a commanding lead throughout, soaring to a 19-point advantage in the third quarter. Franz Wagner had 19 points to lead Germany, and Mortiz Wagner added 16.

Jokic was very emotional during the match and really wanted this victory for Serbia, so it's hard to blame him if he chose to rejoice with his nation first. Jokic, however, demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and leadership by making sure to shake hands with the opposition; his teammates did the same as they left the floor.
