In late June of this year, JJ Redick committed to make improvements to the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead of depending solely on a haphazard offensive approach, the former ESPN analyst insisted on using more scripted plays. Redick also stressed that, as a new head coach, he will employ "math" to create game plans.
Before Friday's second quarter of LA's game against the Golden State Warriors, Redick spoke with former teammate Mike Breen. Redick was asked by the seasoned broadcaster if he would "buck the trend" and wear suits on NBA sidelines.
"Unfortunately, the coaching staff all has to match. I tried, Mike, (Breen), I tried. I couldn't get Bob Beyer, Nate McMillan and Scotty Brooks on board to wear suits again. And by the way, these are not sweats, these are trousers," JJ Redick said per Sportskeeda.

At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBA let coaches skip suits beginning with the 2020 "Bubble Tournament." At Florida's Orlando Disney World, sweatpants and sweatshirts became popular. Following the pandemic, the majority of NBA coaches chose to dress more casually for regular games. According to Mike Breen, one of ESPN's most well-dressed analysts was JJ Redick. Breen remarked on the former NBA player's "impeccable" and "beautiful" attire as they co-called games on the broadcast table.
The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves
According to JJ Redick's podcast, "The Old Man and the Three," he plans to become a coach. During the 2020–21 NBA season, he made this remark a few months after his final game. JJ Redick was hired by the LA Lakers to replace Darvin Ham, fulfilling his dream of becoming an NBA coach. In response to Mike Breen's question on what it's been like to live that dream.
Los Angeles Lakers and JJ Redick will start the NBA season on 22nd Oct against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Meanwhile, this season is also special for the Los Angeles Lakers as LeBron James and Bronny James will share the same dressing room for the first time.
