Luka Doncic was quite unhappy despite finishing with 40 points against the Phoenix Suns. With virtually no options at any point during the game, his Dallas Mavericks fell 114-102 in Arizona. And practically all of the attention went to Kevin Durant. Durant's 29,000 points against the Mavs made him the seventh player in NBA history to reach that milestone.
Although it wasn't his game-winning shot or a crucial play, it was a timely moment that has stood the test of time. Luka Doncic had to defend Kevin Durant at one point in the game after the Slovenian's pointless effort to score was thwarted by KD's challenge and basket. In the video, you can observe Durant addressing Doncic from the opposite side of the court while making the "too small" (too little or too small) gesture with two fingers.
Watch here the video:
Durant is a master of "trash talking" (trash language) in the NBA and a highly outspoken player with both teammates and opponents. Luka Doncic was the target of his bullet in this instance. The 14-time All-Star, who has scored 29,010 points in 17 seasons with the Suns, Golden State, Brooklyn, Oklahoma City, and Seattle, scored 31 points against the Mavs. The 36-year-old has played 1,064 games and averaged 27.3 points.
Kevin Durant hit milestone during the game
Kevin Durant has consistently scored at least 20 points per season and is still putting the ball in the hoop at a high rate. Through his first three games this season, he has scored around 29 points per game. With 40,543 points during his career, LeBron James leads the NBA in scoring.
Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Durant are behind him. On the combined NBA and ABA list, Durant is ranked 10th, followed by Moses Malone in ninth place and Julius Erving in eighth.
