Tyrese Maxey, a Philadelphia 76ers guard, has been gaining attention for his on-court performance. His heroics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series moved the Sixers closer to the New York Knicks, who still led the series 3-2.

Tyrese Maxey ended the most recent game with 46 of his team's 112 points and nine assists. His clutch baskets in the closing minute of regulation sent the game to overtime, allowing the 76ers to win. Meanwhile, Maxey's name was noticeably omitted from Team USA's lineup for the Paris Olympics, which was revealed a few weeks ago. Maxey, 23, has a strong case for inclusion on the roster.

Tyrese Maxey has received the NBA's Most Improved Player title this season after averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and one steal per game, all career highs. He also made his first, and hopefully many, All-Star appearances.

Boston Celtics guard is a two-time all-star and a terrific defender, Jrue Holiday has never been a prolific scorer, averaging only 12.5 points per game this season. This was his lowest scoring average since his first season with Philadelphia in 2009-10.

Tyrese Maxey is rising star in NBA

Maxey scored more than twice as much as Jrue Holiday and had more steals, assists, and fewer turnovers per game. More sophisticated statistics favor Maxey over Holiday. Maxey has 8.1 win shares this season, compared to Holiday's 6.3. He also outperformed Maxey in more sophisticated measures like box plus/minus and VORP. These statistics take defence into account as well, therefore there is little doubt that Maxey is the more valued overall player.

Holiday is 34 years old, and this will be his final Olympic games. Maxey is more than a decade younger and might emerge as one of USA Basketball's future stars. The basketball world is seeing exactly how bright Maxey's skills are at the young age of 23. Fans of USA Basketball Team are rightfully questioning how a guy with his talent, promise, and scoring ability was left off the team for the next Olympic Games in Paris.
