New York Knicks' shattered core is recovering. Jalen Brunson had successful surgery on his fractured left hand on Wednesday morning and will be checked again in six to eight weeks, according to the team. The Knicks announced that Bojan Bogdanović underwent successful surgery on his left wrist and will be examined in six to eight weeks.

In the third quarter of the Indiana Pacers' 130-109 victory over the Knicks on Sunday, Jalen Brunson sustained an injury. Only the fourth player to score 40 or more points in five consecutive postseason games, he finished with 17 points, his lowest total to that date. In the playoffs, he scored 32.4 points per game on average, second only to Joel Embiid's 33, during the Knicks' six-game victory against the Philadelphia 76ers in the opening round.

Bojan Bogdanovic has not played since the first round against the Philadelphia 76ers when Nic Batum suffered a left ankle injury. The Knicks stated on April 30 that Bogdanovic will "undergo surgery on his left foot," although it is unclear whether he has yet. The wrist surgery is due to an injury he suffered earlier in the season.

Injuries ultimately cost the Knicks their playoff spot. They faced Indiana Pacers without Bogdanovic, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson, and their injuries worsened as the series progressed. By Game 7, they had completely exhausted their resources.

In Game 4 of the series, Bogdanovic sustained an injury. He finished the season as one of the Knicks' many injured players, having scored 13 points off the bench in Game 1. Mitchell Robinson had ankle surgery during the playoffs, while Julius Randle had season-ending surgery after dislocating his shoulder in January. But that was back then. New York Knicks already taking steps to ensure that their core group of players is healthy for the 2024–2025 campaign.
