Coach Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks has stated that Luka Doncic will be available for Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Doncic's right knee sprain and painful left ankle were noted as likely conditions on Sunday morning. In the afternoon, his condition was reduced to doubtful and a bruised chest was added to his list of complaints.

About an hour and a half before tipoff, he completed his pregame warm-up and was cleared to play. According to Jason Kidd, he believes Doncic's chest injury occurred after he took a charge and dove onto the ground in search of a lost ball. Game 1 against Boston Celtics ended in a 107-89 loss for the Mavericks, with Doncic leading the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Kidd stated that if Luka Doncic was unable to attend, the team was prepared to adjust. According to AP News, “If he’s out, we’re prepared to go without him, next man up. If he’s going, the game plan doesn’t change. He’s in,” Kidd said in his pregame news conference “We’ve been in this seat pretty much the whole playoffs. So nothing changes.”

Luka Doncic was available for practice

During Saturday's practice, Luka Doncic focused on his ribs and chest, grimacing sometimes. He remained classified as probable on the Mavericks' injury report until he was demoted Sunday afternoon. He took part in the shootaround on Sunday morning but did not participate in the media session.

Luka Doncic has not missed any of Dallas Mavericks games this playoff, although he was listed on the injury report for a right knee sprain during the team's first-round matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. He was classified as having left ankle pain for his second-round showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Luka Doncic had difficulty in his right knee during the Western Conference playoffs against Minnesota Timberwolves. For the Dallas Mavericks in 18 postseason games, Luka Doncic has averaged 28.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists.
