Anthony Edwards overcame a poor start, and Minnesota Timberwolves rallied from a 20-point second-half deficit to defeat reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets 98-90 in Game 7 on Sunday night. With this triumph, the Timberwolves advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in twenty years.

Minnesota Timberwolves rallied from a 15-point halftime the biggest comeback in NBA playoff history  led by Anthony Edwards, who had just four points, no rebounds, and three assists at a break but finished with 16 points, eight boards, and seven assists. His influence belied his 6-for-24 shooting record, which includes a 2-for-10 3-point effort. As the seconds ticked away, Edwards dribbled the ball up court, pausing to wave goodbye to the fans.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Jaden McDaniels each scored 23 points, propelling the Wolves to the Western Conference finals for the first time in precisely 20 years. They'll meet the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night at Target Centre. The Nuggets became the seventh consecutive defending champions to miss the conference finals.

Game 1 will be played on Wednesday night

Denver Nuggets led 53-38 at halftime because of Jamal Murray's 24 first-half points, and Murray's 3-pointer with 10:50 left in the third extended the margin to 58-38. To get back into the game, the Wolves relied on their NBA-best defence, and they completed the quarter on a 28-9 surge to lead 67-66 entering the fourth.

Reid scored two free throws and a slam in a critical run that began with Minnesota leading 85-82 before feeding Edwards for a back-breaking three-pointer that put the Wolves up 92-82 with three minutes left.

Minneapolis will host Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Wednesday night against Dallas Mavericks. Timberwolves will make their second appearance in a conference finals. In 2004, they were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers.
