Kysre Gondrezick is once again a free agent after the Chicago Sky released her. After a two-year absence from the league, she returned this season, hoping to make an impression on the youthful Sky club. With players like Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, Marina Mabrey, and Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky has managed to field an intriguing lineup.

Gondrezick's pre-game attire has captured the attention of fans on several occasions. Unfortunately, she was unable to replicate that flare on the court. She thanked Angel Reese last month for bringing her to the Sky, but her time in Chicago is over.

As one of the most popular WNBA players among fans, this news was not overlooked, and many of them responded to the choice. Someone mentioned Jaylen Brown and suggested that he make some calls to get Kysre Gondrezick on a roster shortly. Others decried the decision, stating that it is terrible for fans and should be hard for players as well.

Fans expressed their disapproval of the choice, claiming that although she wasn't given many chances to shine, she still made a basket on Thursday against the Aces. According to Sportskeeda, "I had a feeling it was going to happen smh, she was very talented but the time she took off didn’t help her tbh and I think they believe she’s not fully locked in and I get it, but man, was she was a site player in college," someone explained.

Kysre Gondrezick's career changed

In the past, Kysre Gondrezick was waived by the WNBA. Two years ago, the Indiana Fever cut her after selecting her as the fourth overall choice in the 2021 WNBA Draft. The guard had walked away from basketball to focus on her mental health.

Gondrezick's career changed dramatically after her father died. It led to a two-year break from competition after aiming to return with Chicago Sky in 2022. She got her first points of the season Friday night, hitting a three-pointer against the Aces. She played only five games this season, shooting 28.6% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc.
