According to reports, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, the USA men's all-time top point scorer in Olympic history, will miss the start of Team USA training camp due to a minor calf issue. Durant, who has 435 points in USA men's basketball history, did not participate in either of Team USA's first two practices this weekend. Even though Durant's injury is not deemed significant, the team is proceeding with care.

After an incredible NBA season in which he averaged 27.1 points on 52.3 percent shooting (41.3 percent from three), the 35-year-old Durant is coming off the court. With KD making Phoenix a difficult team to play against on any given night, the Suns went on a 14-4 run before the All-Star break, after spending most of the season hovering around 500.

Before this year, Kevin Durant lost time due to injury. He sat out two games in November due to right foot pain and two more in December due to a sprained left ankle. After that, he missed three games to begin 2024 due to a right hamstring strain.

Team USA will bring one of its most powerful squads

This summer, Team USA will bring one of its most loaded squads yet to Paris, with NBA talents like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, and many more. Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers' star, has also chosen to play for Team USA over France and Cameroon, two other nations for which he is eligible.

The Olympic super team is led by Steve Kerr, who took over as Team USA's coach following the previous Olympic cycle. Durant, like James and Curry, is one of the roster's most seasoned players. The 35-year-old forward has three Olympic gold medals, winning in 2012, and 2016, and the Covid-delayed 2020 Olympics in 2021. Durant is Team USA's all-time top scorer.

Since 1936, Team USA has medalled in every Olympics. The team has raised expectations for this year's super team by winning gold in four straight Olympics.
