The owner of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is reportedly regarded as one of the leading candidates to purchase Boston Celtics team, according to Bill Simmons of The Ringer. The average NBA team valuation is $4 billion and any potential sale of the Boston Celtics is projected to exceed Mat Ishbia $4 billion purchase of Phoenix Sun in December 2022.

Bezos is presently the second richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated net worth of $200 billion. The Washington Commanders were apparently put up for sale last year, but Josh Harris and his ownership group outbid Bezos for $6.05 billion, according to the Financial Times.

According to Simmons' podcast, the NBA is speculating that it will pay a record amount to purchase the Celtics because to the potential influence on future growth in the next 10 years. As per Pink Villa, “The league wants $6 billion for the Celtics (sale),” Simmons said. “They don’t own their arena. It’s a crazy price, but they are probably going to get it. There’s that. They want the $6 billion because they want expansion teams in Seattle and Vegas. They want to get $6 billion a piece for the expansion of the two franchises, which would mean a check for 400 million dollars for all 30 NBA owners."
