One of the wealthiest persons on the globe is reportedly interested in taking over Boston Celtics, according to a recent report. The owner of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is reportedly regarded as one of the leading candidates to purchase Boston Celtics team, according to Bill Simmons of The Ringer. The average NBA team valuation is $4 billion and any potential sale of the Boston Celtics is projected to exceed Mat Ishbia $4 billion purchase of Phoenix Sun in December 2022.

Bezos is presently the second richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated net worth of $200 billion. The Washington Commanders were apparently put up for sale last year, but Josh Harris and his ownership group outbid Bezos for $6.05 billion, according to the Financial Times.

According to Simmons' podcast, the NBA is speculating that it will pay a record amount to purchase the Celtics because to the potential influence on future growth in the next 10 years. As per Pink Villa, “The league wants $6 billion for the Celtics (sale),” Simmons said. “They don’t own their arena. It’s a crazy price, but they are probably going to get it. There’s that. They want the $6 billion because they want expansion teams in Seattle and Vegas. They want to get $6 billion a piece for the expansion of the two franchises, which would mean a check for 400 million dollars for all 30 NBA owners."

Boston Celtics won 18th NBA title

Boston Celtics brought in JPMorgan and BDT & MSD Partners, two banks, earlier this month to serve as consultants throughout the bidding process, which is expected to be completed during the following 2024–25 season. As previously reported by the New York Post earlier this month, RedBird Capital and the Fenway Sports Group are reportedly also taking proposals. Stephen Pagliuca, the current minority owner of the Celtics, has also expressed interest in purchasing the franchise.

Boston Celtics are the new NBA champions as they won the NBA Final series against Dallas Mavericks by score of 4-1. This was Boston Celtics 18th NBA title. During the NBA Final series Jaylen Brown won the MVP award but he was not part of Team USA which won gold medal in Paris Olympics 2024 after defeating France in finals.
