‘I didn't watch it back in the day…’ Anthony Edwards' big claim on NBA legend was true skill player

Anthony Edwards, a star player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, caused controversy recently when he made comments regarding Michael Jordan and the calibre of play in the NBA in the 1990s. According to Edwards, the other players in the league were not talented at the time, and Jordan was the only one who was skilled.

Although Edwards has a right to his opinion, the majority of basketball analysts contend that Jordan's unrivalled skill, athleticism, and unwavering determination cemented him as the greatest of all time rather than a lack of competition. Minnesota Timberwolves' rising star, Anthony Edwards, has stated that he is not yet focused on winning a championship. 

As per Pink Villa, "I didn't watch it back in the day, so I can't speak on it, but from what I've seen, Michael Jordan was the only one that had skill back then," Edwards said. He went on to suggest that the overall skill level across the NBA has improved significantly since Jordan's era.

Edwards views his championship aspirations differently, even though he led his club to the Western Conference Finals in the 2024 NBA playoffs when they were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards is only 22 and still, he can grow and improve a lot and fight for NBA titles. He knows the importance of getting improved in his play and other talents to propel his team to that level. Instead of focusing on winning a title, Edwards enjoys the process of improving as a player. He understands that winning a title is difficult and involves patience, perseverance, and unwavering support.

Recently Anthony Edwards was a part of Team USA which represented the Olympics 2024 his role was small but made a good impact on the team as the USA defeated France in the final to win the gold medal. For the Minnesota Timberwolves he is building a strong foundation and will be a contender for the NBA title. As the Minnesota Timberwolves are having a young team and young coaching staff they soon can be a squad of lots of calibre.
