As per reports, Chris Finch, the head coach of the Timberwolves, has chosen to extend his tenure in Minnesota following a season that was the greatest for the team. It was expected that Finch will sign a four-year deal with Minnesota. As Finch began his fourth season as head coach, the organisation looked on him to maximise his group's potential and produce a historic postseason run that would go down as the greatest in Timberwolves history.

Finch has coached Minnesota Timberwolves for the last four years. This season was his greatest, as Minnesota ended with the franchise's second-best regular season record (56-26), trailing only Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert. He was chosen as the Western Conference's coach for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

Finch took on the position after the organization severed company with current Nuggets assistant coach Ryan Saunders for the 2020-21 season. Though coach Finch successfully led the Wolves to consecutive postseason trips, both seasons ended in early first-round elimination.

Minnesota Timberwolves demonstrated development under Chris Finch

This time, Finch and Minnesota Timberwolves team management were resolved not to make the same mistakes and to recover as the season went on. Finch led the Timberwolves to a merited second place in the Western Conference and developed one of the league's best defences. Led by 22-year-old prodigy Anthony Edwards, the Wolves demolished Booker's Phoenix Suns, sweeping them in four games.

The conference semifinals versus the 2023 champion Denver Nuggets surpassed expectations. Arguably the finest playoff series in recent memory, it stayed competitive until Game 7. After falling 0-2, the reigning champs rallied and won three straight games before being ousted after two defeats.

Minnesota overcame an almost miraculous 15-point deficit at halftime, the largest in NBA Game 7 history, to defeat the Nuggets. Despite losing 4-1 against a surprisingly strong Mavericks squad, the Timberwolves demonstrated how much they have developed and what they are capable of in the coming seasons. With a record of 160 wins and 127 defeats, there is no disputing that the Timberwolves will have stronger years under coach Finch's guidance.
