Basketball as a sport has a rich history in China. Right from the 1890s, the country has embraced the sport. There is a lot of hype for some of the top stars of the sport. Kobe Bryant was one of the most popular players in China at his peak. Likewise, the local player named Yao Ming was a brand in himself. It seems like the new stars are conquering the Chinese territory.
Is Stephen Curry trying to be the new Kobe Bryant?
In every off-season, Kobe used to visit China to interact with the fans. There were many cities that had the store of Kobe. In 2009, the star player was named the Cultural Ambassador of the Asia Society. Even after retiring, the legendary player made efforts to visit the Asian country and interact with the fans. It seems like Stephen Curry is trying to do the same.
Kobe helped China in a lot of aspects. He set up the Kobe Bryant China Fund and helped poor children to play the sport. The fund is used to help the children to learn Mandarin language and cooking. However, everything started with the setting up of the retail stores. It looks like Stephen is going the same route. One must not be surprised if he becomes as famous as Kobe.
