In the London Olympics 2012, LeBron James scripted history. In the quarterfinal game against Australia, the star player scripted history and became the first USA player to register a triple-double at the Olympics. His performance in the 2012 season is popularly regarded as 'The Summer of LeBron' as he had a dominant performance in the NBA and for the USA.

A few weeks before the Olympics, LeBron won the NBA with the Miami Heat. With momentum on his side, James seemed to be an unstoppable force. So was the USA as the powerful side went on to win all their eight matches to win the gold medal. LeBron led from the front and delivered a great performance. But his best came against Australia.

The star player became the first ever USA player to register a triple-double at the Olympics. James claimed 11 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists in the game against Australia which was won by the USA 119-86. History repeated itself in the Paris Olympics earlier this year as LeBron James became the only USA player to register two triple-doubles.

Chris Paul and LeBron James' masterclass against Australia in the London Olympics 2012

Against a strong side like Serbia in the semifinals, James claimed 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. One of the reporters noted the great performance of James, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and Deron Williams in the match. In particular, Paul and James were brilliant and tamed their opponents. One of the reporters noted about their performance in the match.

"Even without changing their inclination to establish their teammates, Paul and James' dominant ball-handlers were able to give their team’s offense a more productive initial action by straining the defense on the strong side," the reporter noted. "Someone had to take the bull by the horns and get the job done, and I always felt in my heart we would win. I felt someone, probably LeBron with the way he's been taking care of things (would do that), and he did," Jerry Colangelo said.
