USA Men's Paralympic wheelchair Basketball team clinches hat-trick of gold medal in Paris 2024 (Source: X)
The USA Men's Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball team claimed a hat-trick of gold medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024. They overcame the challenge of Great Britain in the final to win the third straight finals. Despite being challenged, the USA team stepped up to the occasion and beat GBR 73-69. In the Women's category, the Netherlands beat the USA in the final 63-49 to defend their gold medal.
For the first time since 1996, the Great Britain featured in a final. They made the most of it and nearly upset the USA in the final. Jake Williams turned out to be the star by claiming 26 points in the final. Steve Serio was impressive as well who claimed 24 points to his name. From Britain, Gregg Warburton managed to claim 16 points.
The great defences from the USA ensured that Gregg was stopped from wreaking havoc. In the semifinal against Germany, the star player had bagged a whopping 35 points. USA now has gold medals in Rio De Janeiro (2016), Tokyo, and Paris. They would be hoping to claim their fourth consecutive gold medal in Los Angeles in 2028. In the Women's Wheelchair Basketball event, the Netherlands defended their gold medal.

They overcame the challenge of the USA team in the final. The Dutch women won the final convincingly by 63-49 to claim the gold medal. Bo Kramer was the star for the Dutch women who scored 23 points. Mariska Beijer was impressive and claimed 22 points. For the second time in a row, the Netherlands managed to claim the gold medal in the Sport and was dominated by the USA.
China won the Bronze medal in the event by beating Canada 65-43. The gold medal helped the Dutch big time as they managed to finish the Paris Paralympics in the fourth spot. They claimed a total of 27 gold medals, while Brazil and Italy finished 5th and 6th with 25 and 24 gold medals respectively. Great Britain and the USA finished second and third behind China which had a massive lead in the points table.
