Brooklyn Nets agreed to trade Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, according to reports. In return, the Netts will get Bojan Bogdanovic and a bevy of future draft selections, including four unprotected first-rounders.

Bridges, a former Villanova star, will be reunited with former Wildcats Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo under the new pact. Bridges played three seasons at Villanova, winning two national titles.

According to reports, the Nets will obtain unprotected first-round picks in 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031. They'll also get a protected first-round selection from the Milwaukee Bucks in 2025, a second-round pick in 2025, and a protected pick swap in 2028.

Bridges averaged 19.6 points and 4.5 rebounds last season with Brooklyn Nets, his first full season with the franchise after being acquired from the Phoenix Suns before the 2023 trade deadline. He has two years remaining on his four-year, $90.9 million contract.

Bojan Bogdanovic played pivotal role in the team

After being traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Knicks earlier this year, Bojan Bogdanovic, 35, played a pivotal role in the team's postseason journey, which ended in the Eastern Conference semifinals for the second consecutive year. In 29 games as the team's reserve, he averaged 10.4 points and two rebounds.

The Nets finished 32-50 last season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018, after hiring Jordi Fernández as head coach. They are now planning a major rebuild, which is feasible in the upcoming years given the draft selections they now have at their disposal.

Though the Knicks still have significant components to figure out this winter, namely OG Anunoby, they are hopeful that Bridges' Villanova reunion will propel them at least to the Eastern Conference finals, ending a 25-year drought next spring.
