After seven back-to-back high-octane races, the MotoGP is hitting the breaks for a summer break. The teams and drivers will be enjoying the time with family and friends for the next four weeks before a comeback to tracks with the Dutch Grand Prix. So, going ahead today we will explain to you all about the summer breaks.

What is a summer break in MotoGP?

The 28-day long off time mid-way to the season is known as summer breaks in MotoGP. It doesn’t have a fixed date as it is scheduled according to races. However, it happens midway through the European leg of the season. Notably, sometimes cancellation of key races helps to schedule them early.

This year’s summer break was under scanner as the maiden Grand Prix in Kazakhstan was slated to take place this month. However, a change in schedule after the cancellation of the Indian Grand Prix helped MotoGP to plan this break.

When will MotoGP 2024 return?

The grid will make a comeback later this year with Dutch Grand Prix also known as Mogul Tourist Trophy. The eighth round of the ongoing season will take place from June 28th to June 30th in the Netherlands. It will then move to Germany for the next round of the season in the first week of July.

Who is leading the driver's standings?

Going into the break Jorge Martin is leading the driver’s championship table with a lead of 18 points over second-placed Francesco Bagnaia. It’s worth noting that Bagnaia has won four races out of seven this season but Martin’s five podium finishes and high-octane performances in Sprint races help him to outplay Pecco in standings.
