The Opening of the 2017 Singapore GP was so dramatic as the two Ferraris and Max Verstappen's Red Bull were involved in a huge crash, which broke Vettel's dream of another Formula 1 title. 

The title race was between Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Both were four times world champions and the fight was to become the world champion for the fifth time. Before the race, Hamilton entered the race with a 3-point lead over Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in the drivers championship. 

In Qualifying, Red Bull and Ferrari dominated Mercedes as Max Verstappen was quickest in Q1 and Q2, with Sebastian Vettel going Quickest in Q3. Championship Leader Lewis Hamilton took the fifth spot after Qualifying. 

Drama and Collision at the start

The Start was full of drama as both the Ferrari and Max Verstappens Red Bull were involved in crash. Kimi Raikkonen had a better start than his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Vettel covering for his teammate kimi ended up sandwiching Max Verstappen. 

The crash resulted in immediate retirement of Kimi and Max while Vettel later spun due to the damage and retired from the race. This is the first occasion where both Ferraris were out on the first lap in their formula 1 history. After the collision, Lewis Hamilton took the lead followed by Red Bulls Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg. 

There were two other safety car periods one on lap 11 and the other one on lap 38. Lewis Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas managed to get third making Mercedes 1 and 3 in the podium. The race ended with Lewis Hamilton increasing his lead to 28 points over sebastian vettel for the drivers championship. Mercedes also had a comfortable lead to 102 points over Ferrari in the constructors title. 

The Singapore GP is one of the toughest Street circuits on the F1 calendar with tight corners and minimal space for errors. Even a small mistake could be very costly for a team. More drama is expected this weekend as the title fight between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris is becoming more interesting.
