For the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix 2024, the ruling body of the Formula 1, FIA, has made some new changes to the circuit. The Singapore circuit is one of the most famous and most watched races in the F1 calendar. The tight corners and tricky layout make the race more engaging and thrilling. FIA has now added a new DRS zone to boost the overtaking opportunities in the race.

Last year, the drivers asked the governing body to add the extra DRS Zone, but that never materialized because there was no “clear consensus” from the teams. Also, there was a safety concern specifically at the apex of the kink. Now, FIA has agreed to add new DRS zone to the circuit.

Double DRS Zones in the Marina Bay

The DRS zone will come between Turn 14 and Turn 16. This will now create Double DRS zone as we already have third DRS between Turn 13 and Turn 14. The Marina Bay is a tight and narrow street circuit with many corners. Last year, the layout was changed and FIA also considered adding new DRS Zone.

F1 Tyre Supplier Pirelli also confirmed they will be bringing their softest tire compounds for this weekend. C3 (hard), C4(Medium), and C5 (Soft) tires are set to be used in Singapore for the race. This year, Singapore GP will happen from September 20 to September 22. Currently, Max Verstappen is leading the championship with 313 points. Mclaren's Lando Norris is second with 254 points and Charles Leclerc is third with 235 points.

Red Bull Lost its lead at the constructor title to Mclaren in the last Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Mclaren is leading the constructors title for the very first time since 2014. Mclaren leads with 476 points pushing Red Bull to second with 456 points. Ferrari holds third with 425 points, Mercedes at fourth with 309 points, Aston Martin at fifth with 82 points.
