The Mercedes F1 team will race with a special livery to celebrate 50 years of Petronas. The Malaysian Oil Corporation was started by the Government of Malaysia in 1974. In recent years Petronas has been heavily involved in Motorsport.
Petronas is the Prime oil and fuel supplier for Mercedes in Formula 1. Together with Mercedes, Petronas has achieved 7 Drivers Championship and 8 Constructors championship. From 2014 to 2021m Mercedes AMG Petronas team were the winners of the Formula 1 Constructors title.
New Livery for the Singapore GP
To celebrate 50 years of Petronas, Mercedes came up with a special livery. The New look of the Mercedes W15 for the Singapore GP is a mix of Silver, black, and emerald green. The Emerald green is the official colour of the Petronas brand which will now replace the silver on the front wing, and side pods which will look very vibrant during the night race in Singapore.

Speaking about Mercedes's Partnership with the Malaysian oil brand, Mercedes Team principal Toto Wolff Said, “Our Partnership with PETRONAS is our longest standing and still going strong, and for any company to reach its 50th anniversary is an incredible milestone. This Livery is therefore not only a celebration of their 50th anniversary but a reflection of PETRONAS’ importance in our team’s story and honors our journey together.”
Mercedes Drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are also excited to go to the race with the new livery. Lewis Hamilton said, “The Livery looks Incredible. I can't wait to see it on the car in the garage and then to get behind the wheel on Friday. It's a Privilege to celebrate the milestone, and our journey together, at such an important race.”
George Russell said, “The design looks brilliant and is a fantastic tribute to such a milestone achievement. It is great to be able to recognize the importance of our relationship at the race closest to their home.”
The Singapore GP will be a perfect location for the Malaysian brand to celebrate half a century of its innovation and advancements as it is the closest event and very near to Malaysia. Since 2010 Petronas has been in partnership with Mercedes. After the Singapore GP Petronas has planned to celebrate its 50 years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. So Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will also be joining the celebrations next week.
