The two drivers, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, displayed outstanding talent and racing skills at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. The opening lap was a near crash for McLaren driver Lando Norris as he backed off when trying to overtake Verstappen.
He lost his race position to Kimi Antonelli and his teammate, Oscar Piastri. As Doohan punctured his tyres, the virtual safety car was brought in, and the drivers had to maintain distance. By the end of the VSC, Piastri overtook Antonelli and set his sights on Max Verstappen.

The two battled for the pole position for almost four laps, as Piastri faked dive-bombed many times. Vertsappen was also showing a defence masterclass with his Red Bull car. The Dutchman tried very hard to keep Piastri behind him, but the McLaren car found no match and Oscar went past Verstappen by the end of lap 14.
This will be Piastri’s fourth race victory as he is now the race leader. Max Verstappen’s nightmare continued as he battled for P2 against another McLaren driver, Lando Norris. The british Formula 1 driver was also running on the medium tyres, and his car's pace was too high for Max to defend.
The Dutch driver’s fear has become reality with the two McLarens flying past him, and he can't do much as a driver. He will be very frustrated with his car’s pace, and even as a driver, he couldn’t make a difference in the results. The newly become father has no chance in this race unless a miracle happens.
Red Bull has to do something to keep Verstappen’s title hopes alive as the two McLarens are stealing the championship away from him. He is now behind Mercedes driver George Russell, who jumped him during the pit stop. The day changed from bad to worse for Verstappen, and the Red Bull strategy team will be kicking themselves for what went wrong.
