The British Grand Prix 2024 FP3 session at Silverstone began with a dramatic twist as Max Verstappen executed a stunning 360-degree spin during the third and final practice session. The reigning world champion, who leads the standings by a significant margin, provided a vivid demonstration of the treacherous track conditions that have plagued the drivers this weekend.

The practice session, marked by intermittent rain and slippery conditions, saw drivers struggling to maintain control. As soon as the session began, around ten cars ventured out onto the wet Silverstone circuit, eager to gather crucial data ahead of the qualifying rounds. However, the tricky weather proved challenging, even for the sport’s top talents.

Here is the video:

Max Verstappen’s spin at Brooklands was a testament to the unpredictable nature of the track. Approaching the corner with his usual aggression, Verstappen lost the rear end of his Red Bull, sending the car into a full 360-degree spin. Demonstrating his exceptional car control, he managed to save the car and continue without any damage.

Red Flag by Pierre Gasly!

The Verstappen spin came as a stark reminder of the ever-present danger in Formula 1, regardless of a driver’s skill or experience. Despite his dominance this season, Verstappen is not immune to the challenges posed by a wet and slippery track. The incident did not result in any major mishap, allowing Verstappen to continue his session, albeit with a renewed caution.

Shortly after Verstappen’s spin, the session was brought to a halt by a red flag caused by Pierre Gasly’s car getting beached in the gravel at Vale. The French driver lost control and slid off the track, necessitating a temporary stoppage for the marshals to clear the vehicle.

As the session resumed, the drivers continued to battle the elements, with Yuki Tsunoda setting the fastest lap time of 1:47.080. However, the spread of times indicated that most were still grappling with the conditions rather than pushing for peak performance.
