McLaren driver's first outing in the Las Vegas GP last year lasted for only three laps before he suffered a horrific crash in turn 12 of the street circuit. Last year Las Vegas Grand prix was the inaugural event in many years. The iconic city was turned into a race track and Formula 1 drivers for the first ever time were ready to race in the casino capital of the world. Roads were turned into race track and many drivers found difficulties in racing.

Horrific crash last year

There were many bumps on the track which were adjusted before the race. But even then it is not enough for Lando Norris as when he was running 13th on the grid and a bump caused him to lose control with the cold tyres he couldn't find any grip, spun to his sides and crashed straight into the wall.

On his way crashing the British driver nearly missed his teammate Oscar Piastri and fortunately, a disaster has been evaded. McLaren said that Lando’s car had a medium Tyre setup which was not up to the temperature which caused him to lose control after hitting a bump resulting in a big crash. The crash was very big as the medical car and safety car ran to the crash site immediately and Lando was taken to the medical centre in Las Vegas and was discharged after a full health checkup.

The Las Vegas circuit was itself very smooth and drivers were already struggling to find the grip. The cold temperature made it worse along with the heavy braking turns on the track. Last year's Las Vegas Grand prix was a disaster for the McLaren F1 team as both of their drivers couldn't find the podium.

But this year Lando Norris seems to have a good rhythm, especially after the upgrades done to his car in the Miami Grand prix. He is now challenging Max Verstappen for the championship title and the Las Vegas Grand prix is a do-or-die situation for him to keep his title hopes alive.
