Lewis Hamilton had a tight and amazing battle with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc during the Qatar GP Sprint races. Lewis Hamilton is racing his final race for Mercedes in Qatar. His teammate George Russell was way ahead of him after the sprint qualifying and he started P2 with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Oscar Piastri won the Qatar GP Sprint race after some assistance from his teammate Lando Norris who led the race most of the time and eventually gave his teammate the pole position in the final lap at the final corner. George Russell lost his position in the opening lap of the race to Oscar Piastri but maintained the podium positions with the two McLarens and was third after the end of the race. The biggest talking point of the race was the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

The future teammates had a tight battle for fifth place as Lewis Hamilton was desperate to gain some positions. Though he gained some places at the start as the race went on he was forced to defend his place against his 2025 teammate Leclerc. But his defence shield was finally broken by the Monegasque in the 13th lap of the sprint race. Leclerc gained some distance in the Main straight of the track and went banging wheels with Hamilton showing some preview of what to expect next year at Ferarri.
Leclerc went around the outside line and gained the lead against Lewis Hamilton. Finally, Hamilton had to give way to his future teammate as his car didn't have enough pace in his machine compared with Leclerc. There are still Qualifying and Main races left this weekend in the Qatar Grand prix, and we will then head to Abu Dhabi for the final race of the 2024 season. Max Verstappen already won the driver's championship. The constructors championship will most likely go to the McLarens as they have a bright chance after winning the Sprint races 1-2.
