Ferrari has set the stage for an exciting weekend at the Italian Grand Prix by teasing a special livery and race suit design for their drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. As the Scuderia prepares for their home race at Monza, the iconic team has unveiled a striking new look that pays homage to both tradition and innovation.

In a move that balances Ferrari’s classic scarlet-red colours with modern flair, Leclerc and Sainz will don black race suits featuring a dark chequered pattern with yellow trim. This new design is part of what Ferrari calls their “special Monza Carbon Fibre collection.”

While Ferrari has always been synonymous with their red liveries, the team has experimented with various one-off designs in recent years. At Monza in both 2022 and 2023, Ferrari introduced yellow accents on their cars, the latter year celebrating their historic win at the Le Mans 24 Hours race.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023 saw the Scuderia incorporate flashes of white to honour their rich history in North America. Notably, earlier this year, a blue livery was featured in Miami to highlight their sponsorship deal with technology giant Hewlett-Packard.

The new black race suits and the anticipation of a potential black livery have sparked considerable excitement among fans and pundits alike. The idea of a black Ferrari livery has been floated before, particularly in connection with the arrival of Lewis Hamilton to the team in 2025.

Mercedes previously adopted an all-black colour scheme to support Hamilton’s off-track campaigns, leading some to speculate that a similar move could be in Ferrari’s future. However, Hamilton downplayed these rumours at the Canadian Grand Prix, stating that while he has fond memories of driving a black car, his focus with Ferrari will likely be on impactful work off the track.
