As Formula 1 gears up for the second half of the 2024 season, fans and pundits alike are reflecting on a thrilling first half that delivered plenty of action, surprises, and standout performances. One of the iconic reflections was made by an artist in a multi-layered portrait which is going viral on social media.

The season kicked off with a bang as Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, showcased his dominance early on. The Dutchman won the Bahrain Grand Prix, leading a Red Bull 1-2 finish, setting the tone for what seemed like another year of Verstappen's supremacy.

Here is the artistic F1 2024 mid-season recap in one image:

Verstappen continued his impressive form, winning three of the next four races. However, not everything went smoothly for the Red Bull star. In Australia, Verstappen faced his first significant setback of the season with a DNF (Did Not Finish), opening the door for Carlos Sainz of Ferrari to claim victory. Sainz's win was a rare bright spot for Ferrari in a season that has seen the Scuderia struggle to consistently challenge the front runners.

Lando Norris’ iconic comeback!

Lando Norris

The Miami Grand Prix delivered one of the most memorable moments of the season so far, as Lando Norris of McLaren secured his first-ever Formula 1 victory. In a race where he outpaced Verstappen by more than seven seconds, Norris announced himself as a serious contender for future titles. This victory was particularly sweet for McLaren, who have been striving to return to the top of the sport.

Monaco was the scene of another maiden victory, this time for Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Racing on his home track, Leclerc finally broke the so-called "Monaco curse" that had plagued him in previous years, securing his first win at the iconic circuit. His triumph was a significant morale boost for Ferrari and its fans, who have long waited for the team to return to its former glory.

Mercedes and Hamilton are back to business!

Lewis Hamilton

Mercedes, a team that had struggled to find its footing early in the season, began showing signs of a comeback in the Canadian Grand Prix. George Russell finished third, with Lewis Hamilton just behind in fourth, signalling that the Silver Arrows were beginning to regain their competitive edge. In Spain, the Mercedes duo swapped places, with Hamilton finishing ahead of Russell, further hinting at the team's resurgence.

The Austrian Grand Prix marked a turning point for Mercedes, as George Russell claimed victory, with Hamilton finishing fourth. This performance was a clear indication that Mercedes was back in the fight, much to the delight of their fans. The momentum continued in Silverstone, where Hamilton, racing in his final British Grand Prix with Mercedes, delivered a masterclass performance to take a commanding victory on home soil.

The caravan moved to the Hungarian Grand Prix which added another layer of drama to the season, as Oscar Piastri of McLaren secured his maiden Formula 1 win. The victory was somewhat controversial, as team orders kept his teammate, Lando Norris, in second place, allowing Piastri to cross the finish line first. Meanwhile, Hamilton continued his strong form, finishing third. Notably, Hamilton had crashed with Max Verstappen while later trying to clinch the 3rd position.
