Charles Leclerc breaks the Monaco curse by beating Oscar Piastri in Monte Carlo, Mercedes holds Verstappen back

Breaking his Monaco hiatus Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc clinched his maiden Grand Prix victory at his home track in Monte Carlo. With a gap of more than eight seconds, Leclerc beat McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

For the eighth round of the Formula 1 season 2024, F1 caravan has reached Monaco. Breaking his Monaco hiatus Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc clinched his maiden Grand Prix victory at his home track in Monte Carlo. With a gap of more than eight seconds, Leclerc beat McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Leclerc’s Ferrari partner Carlos Sainz completed the race in third position while McLaren’s Lando Norris got fourth position. Mercedes driver George Russell clinched fifth position just ahead of Max Verstappen despite being on medium tyre from the very first lap. 

Verstappen finished sixth as his partner crashed out of the race in the very first lap. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton finished seventh despite trying to push hard on Verstappen. It’s worth noting that star Footballer Kylian Mbappe waved the checkered flag in the final lap.   

Sergio Perez crashed out of the Monaco GP in 1st Lap! 

In the first lap of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, a massive crash occurred between Sergio Perez and the two Haas drivers at Beau Rivage, triggering a red flag. Debris scattered across the track, resulting in three cars being taken out of the race. 

The cars were quickly craned off, with a restart imminent. Additionally, Esteban Ocon collided with his teammate Pierre Gasly outside the tunnel. An exasperated Gasly said, "What was that? Why did he come after me? Oh no, the entire car is damaged!This chaotic start has left several drivers frustrated and their teams scrambling. However, Charles Leclerc finally ended his Monaco hiatus and got the checkered flag.
