Red Bull boss Helmut Marko has given some insights about the potential replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull after the Mexican's poor performance this year. Max Verstappen is standing tall in first place in the driver's championship while Red Bull falls short of the number 1 position in the constructor's title.

McLaren, the rival team of Red Bull this year has surpassed the Austrian team after their drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris secured the maximum number of podium points in the last 6-7 races. Red Bull on the other hand is struggling with their car in the second half of the season and Sergio Perez is the most affected man in the camp. This is because of Checo’s poor run in the last few races Red Bull hasn't managed to score points in the constructor's title.

Many are questioning Red Bull over Perez's future in the team and Helmut Marko is the key responsible man for selecting drivers for the team. He was asked about the possible driver who could team up with Red Bull in 2025 and revealed a surprise name.

The young Japanese driver

According to Marko, the Japanese Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda could possibly replace Sergio Perez in the senior Red Bull team. Sergio Perez could be shifted to their Junior team VCARB alongside Liam Lawson just like Daniel Ricciardo if his poor form continues in the remaining six races.

Yuki Tsunoda has a contract with VCARB till 2025 and Red Bull has already confirmed at the start of the season that there will be no change in their driver's lineup as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will team up for the fifth consecutive year.

After the second-half disaster, they seem to have changed their mind and Marko says they are not yet fully decided with their driver's lineup for 2025. He said, “Tsunoda is a candidate to drive alongside Max in 2025. The remaining races this season will decide what our driver pairings will look like next year.”

Perez was rumored to be sacked by the Red Bull team which he refused by saying, “I'm not leaving.” Yuki Tsunoda is backed by Red Bull’s engine partner Honda as they will also have their final year in 2025 with Red Bull and then they will be moving to Aston Martin.

Marko says it's between Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda for the Red Bull seat. He also said it's Red Bull’s Philosophy of giving young drivers a chance in Formula 1 and it has paid them very well with the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, and Daniel Ricciardo in the past.

This year seems to be a rookie year same as the mid-2000s when World champions like Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, and Nico Rosberg arrived in Formula 1 as rookies. Teams are giving chances to Young drivers like Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, Oliver Bearman, and Franco Colopinto. Even Mick Schumacher is under consideration by Audi F1 for next year's driver seat.
