For the past few days, the biggest news in Formula 1 was the brawl between George Russell and Max Verstappen. It all happened in the Qatar Grand prix when the Mercedes driver got Verstappen a 1-place grid penalty after complaining to the stewards. The Mercedes driver was on a hot lap during the final few minutes of the qualifying session and was intercepted by Max Verstappen who was doing his slow-down lap. The British driver thought Max deliberately slowed him down to spoil his qualifying and raised a complaint.

This was not taken lightly by the 4-time World Champion and he had a heated argument with George after coming out from the stewards room. The two drivers also took this matter to the press where Verstappen accused Russell of lying and George accused Max of bullying. They even sat far away during the Formula 1 driver dinner meet in the Abu Dhabi Grand prix.

Drivers to Team bosses

The brawl went to their team bosses Christian Horner and Toto Wolff and they started their own. The two old foes got another chance to fight after the 2021 season and they did it in their own fashion. Horner called Russell Hysterical. For that, Toto Wolff slammed the Red Bull boss. He stated, “Why is he entitled to comment about my driver? How dare you comment about the state of mind of my driver.” He also went one step further by calling Horner a Yapping little terrier (A small dog breed).

The Red Bull boss responded saying, “To be called a terrier, is that such a bad thing? They're not afraid to have a go at the bigger dogs. I’d rather be a terrier than a wolf, maybe.” He also advised the Mercedes driver to wound up and speak to Max verstappen face to face. He defended his driver and said, “Max has no reason to lie. He never lied before. He’ll tell you straight. Rather than doing it through media, or through you guys. Just go and have a conversation. Talk about it man to man, face to face. If you've got something to say, say it. And rather than ‘he said, she said,’ far better to address it that way. Many of these situations are often dealt with better on the padel court.”

Max Verstappen already won his fourth world championship this year and he will look to end his year on a high at the Yas Marina circuit. George also thinks Mercedes have found their pace like before and he will try it out to bring the best possible results for the team. It will be very nice to see George vs Max for the F1 title next year.
