The Formula 1 2024 season was expected to be all drama between McLaren and Red Bull as their drivers Max verstappen and Lando Norris went on to battle for the drivers championship. Unexpectedly the fire was ignited between Mercedes and Red Bull. It all started during the penultimate race of the season in Qatar where Max Verstappen and Russell were the fastest drivers during the Qualifying session. Russell went for one last try to outpace the Red Bull driver but found him on his way into a corner.
George Russell lost his time there and qualified for P2 after the session. Post that, the real started fight off the track when George complained to the stewards that Max was unusually slow and was deliberate in coming his way during qualifying. The FIA took action by giving Max a one-place-grid penalty.
During the main race, Max Verstappen was all over George Russell at the opening lap and in the first corner he took the lead from the British driver and won the race. The Mercedes driver also got a penalty and was pushed to fourth place. After the race, the Dutchman aimed the Brit calling him fake and two-faced. He also accused George of trying to screw him very hard and that he had lost respect for him. Russell responded to the accusations a week later during the Abu Dhabi weekend.

Max is world class, and always tries to protect the integrity of racing but his comments were out of line last week with Russell.

The British driver accused Verstappen of swearing at the stewards. He said “He was so angry before I’d even spoken, and at the end of the day, there is nothing to lie about. And you know he said to me, he’s gonna purposely go out his way to crash into me, ‘Put me on my fu**ing head in the wall’. The next day during the driver's parade I saw it in his eyes that he meant it.”

Verstappen responded to that and called it all a lie. The Red Bull driver said “That’s already wrong, I didn't say that. He is trying to flesh it out again. You know what I can't stand either. He attacks me in an unacceptable way at the stewards and then comes running back a day later as if nothing is wrong and slaps me on the shoulders.”

All this happened and after a few hours, the drivers sat for a dinner organized by Lewis Hamilton to celebrate the end of the 2024 season. Both George Russell and Max verstappen were present for the dinner and fans were very eager to know what happened between the two.
Many drivers like Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton and, Esteban Ocon posted about the dinner on their social media, but none mentioned what happened between George and Max. But Lando Norris empathised with the fans and cheekily took a dig at both the drivers in his post. He posted, “2024 dinner! And yes, the two you are thinking were sat as far away from each other as possible.” Verstappen also liked the post of Lando Norris. Max is all done with Russell, at least for a while.
