Formula 1 has penalised two F1 drivers driving for Red Bull and Williams for breaching the Parc Ferme conditions at the Qatar Grand Prix. Sergio Perez and Franco Colapinto will start from the Pit lane as they breached the rules by making changes to their cars after the qualifying session. Both drivers were already out of the top 15 and the punishment would make their weekend even worse.

Parc Ferme rule breach

The two drivers were out in SQ1 in the Sprint qualifying session by finishing P16 and P20. Colapinto came with an older suspension setup due to his crash in Las Vegas GP. He was negating an S corner and made some judgemental error which cost him big and had a 50G crash. Perez also had some issues with one of his Anti-roll bars. Because of the Anti roll bar issue, he came late to the session. During the qualifying Perez was stuck in traffic which cost him his qualifying session and got eliminated.

He also had to race with Charles Leclerc, lost some tenths of a second there and was knocked out of the race. The Mexican already having the cruellest Formula 1 seasons in his career. He can't compete at the highest level compared with his teammate Max Verstappen. Sergio Perez was openly criticised by his team boss Helmut Marko many times for underperforming. Red Bull lost their constructors title leading to McLaren and ferrari because Perez was not performing well for the team.

Drivers like Yuki Tsunoda, Franco Colapinto and Liam Lason are in line to replace Perez next season. The decision will be made once the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is over. Many believe even though perez has signed an agreement with Red Bull as a racing driver he won't be racing for the main team next year.

He is 200+ points behind the ducthman and is the only driver fighting against McLaren and Ferrari. Perez was seen nowhere in the contest as he is still struggling to score points for the team. The 2025 season will be the season of rookies as many teams will be having new rookies as their drivers.
