MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin is now in hospital after he suffered a huge accident at the Lusail circuit during the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix. This was the first race Martin participated in since last year, as at the start of this year, he had a major accident during practice and was out of the first three races.

Martin suffers broken ribs
Aprilia Racing is clearly struggling without Martin, as Marco Bezzecchi is steering the ship one-handed. But again, Martin faced the same fate in the 2025 Qatar GP. He battled with pain during qualifying as his previous wounds were not completely healed. The Martinator gave his heart to the team by coming to the race and battling for points. On lap 14, VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio was chasing Martin, and in turn 12, Martin fell and was hit by Fabio’s Ducati.
Jorge went sliding into the kerbs at a very high speed, which eventually broke his ribs and punctured his lungs. The Italian rider was shocked as he saw Jorge Martin sitting on the track. Giannantonio describes the scene as the worst ever in his life. He recalls, “He was in front of me, a bit wide. I wanted to overtake him, I was close to him, but he fell: once on the ground, I touched him. I couldn't go anywhere, moreover at about 200 kilometres per hour. That was the worst scene of my life, I had goosebumps.”
The VR46 rider even stopped at the Aprilia garage to learn about the condition of Jorge, as he was immediately taken to the medical centre. The accident was severe, so Martin was taken to the Hamad General Hospital in Doha, where he had CT scans. Totally eight fractures were found on his ribs, and he will remain there under observation. Martin has no chance of winning the 2025 Motogp championship as Marc Marquez is leading the championship table. Many suggest Martin take a year off from racing and return in the 2026 season and fight for his title.
