Moto3 Race Results: David Alonso wins at Phillip Islands circuit equals Valentino Rossi record

David Alonso Won 11 races so far equaling MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi’s record of 11 wins in the 1997 light class category. He will surpass Rossi this year.

The Moto 3 championship race at the Phillip Islands circuit is completed and the world champion David Alonso got a comfortable win despite early challenges. He also equaled Valentino Rossi for most wins (11) in the lightweight Category. He is also the 2024 Moto3 Season world champion which he won in Japan.

Equals 'The Doctor'

Valentino Rossi won 11 races in the year 1997. After 27 years the Colombian David Alonso broke it and he will now most likely surpass the Italian icon as there are still 3 races remaining in the season, After this season David Alonso could hold a new record in the lightweight category.

He also broke Joan Mir’s most points record and this is his fourth win in a row. After the win, Alonso thanked Valentino Rossi for being his inspiration to take up Motor racing and also dedicated his Australian Grand Prix victory to the 7-time MotoGP world champion. ‘The Baby Goat’ is dominating the entire grid with no real challenges from anyone. It was also the first dominating year for any team in Moto3 after many years. He is followed by D.Holgado (Red Bull Gas Gas tech3) and A.Fernandez (Leopard Racing). 

The other riders at the points table are S.Nepa (LEVELUP -MTA) in fourth, D.Munoz (BOE Motorsports) in fifth, R.Yamanaka (MT Helmets -MSI) in sixth, T.Furusato (Honda Team Asia) in seventh, L.Lunetta (SIC58 Sqaudra Corse) in Eighth, J.Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in ninth, A.Piqueras (Leopard racing) at the 10th in the points table. 

Home hero Kelso (BOE Motorsport) ended in 11th, R.Rossi (CIP Green power) is 12th, J.ROulstone (Red Bull Gas gas Tech3) in 13th, M.Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers team) in 14th and the final point was clinched by T.Suzuki (Liqy Moly Husqvarna Team). The Australian GP is completed and there are only three races left for this year's calendar and the next race will head to Thailand then to Sepang Malaysia and finally to Valencia where the season will complete.
